Days 8-9: Surviving, then surrendering

Day 8: I didn’t do a damn thing all day except catch up on Daily Shows/Colbert Reports I missed during the course of the week, run a bit of a longer route than usual, and watch my Razr crash while I checked some email. Awesome day right? Doing nothing has its moments. After dinner, I went back to Charlotte to go and clean up what little was left in my apartment. At the same time, I got a phone call from a friend in Austin extolling the many awesome features of the iPhone. That punk, he knows I’ve been trying to fight the urge to spring for one of those all summer.

Day 9: I spent the morning loading a few things into the car, then moved the bed back home. In between, I stopped by the Apple Store and surrendered my iPod free life license and got an 8gig iPhone. I figure I have some decent traveling alone in a car coming up in the next few weeks so I needed a shiny metal companion that’s way smarter than me. Besides, EVERYONE has a Razr now, and most of them didn’t even pay for theirs, let alone pay over $300 to get it.

First impressions: this thing is sweet. There were some troubles with the phone setup, but AT&T got it straightened out pretty quickly over the phone. One snag so far: the headphone that came with the iPhone appears to be completely screwed, so I’m heading back to the store to swap that out tomorrow. Otherwise, its an awesome piece of shiny gadgetry so far that does a great job of playing music, displaying web pages, and operating as a phone. I’m impressed. Its shiny too.

Considering how much this damn thing cost, I’m glad I’m happy with it so far. 14 days to figure out if this thing will stay with me for good. Time to put it through its paces.
