Day 4: Going to Atlanta. This wasn’t too bad. Dale was cool enough to drive us down to Atlanta. Traveling long distances with other people in the car makes the iPod less needed. The drive was extra long thanks to heavy rain combined with moronic drivers, resulting in slow traffic. We got there just in time for me to meet up with Vernon and some attorneys from the firm this summer for dinner. This dinner also introduced the distinct possibility that Dave and Dale would sell my belongings before I returned. Fortunately they were too lazy to follow through =)
Day 5: Marathon interviews. An iPod would have been nice in between interviews. Or my laptop. Unfortunately I lack planning skills so I only had my phone with me. A Razr isn’t nearly as entertaining as either a laptop or an iPod. I saw a few people with the iPhone. I absolutely have gadget envy. After a day full of “Hi, my name is Kyle.” and hand shaking, we all went to Ted’s and had various forms of tasty dead animal. Good stuff. Goes better with scotch.
Day 6: We left fairly early in the morning to make our flights to Chicago. Breakfast was….strange. Eggs should not all look the same, nor should the yolk of said egg be exactly uniform across all eggs in the breakfast buffet. These “eggs” also did not taste very egg-ish, if that’s even a word. Regardless, it was something to fill the stomach for a bit. The trip back from Atlanta was free of monsoon style rain and went fairly quickly. Later that afternoon, I was in the airport waiting on my flight. My god people talk about some inane shit at the airport. An iPod would have helped drown out some of the background noise. I played some Final Fantasy Tactics on my PSP but the oldschool PS1 music wasn’t enough to drown out the world. Boo. An iPod would have been nice on the airplane as well. By this time my PSP was starting to run low on power so I had to read the US Airways Magazine. I should’ve bought a real magazine. The wait for the shuttle to the hotel wasn’t too bad. Since I was iPod free, I managed to talk to a few of the other participants and get a feel for the job fair. I guess when you don’t have headphones people feel like they can approach you.
Day 7: So a bridge collapsed. We get it CNN. Please stop calling all the civil engineers in the country and asking for their opinion. Give the investigators some time to examine the tragedy before you find other people NOT at the scene to spout their opinions. Anyway the morning was pretty chill. Nick and I went and got registered at the fair, then returned to the hotel room to see more speculation on CNN. Later we went out and swung by the Alston hospitality suite before my interview. For lunch we found Giordano’s. Now THAT is some tasty Chicago style pizza! Highly recommended! After that, I went back to the hotel and left for the airport. Once again, an iPod would have been nice. Chicago is a pretty loud airport, with people all around speaking louder than they have to in order to overcome the background noise. Its a vicious cycle. More Final Fantasy Tactics for me on a freshly recharged PSP. But still its not like an iPod.
A busy last few days. I thought the month between working and classes starting would be pretty nice and chill. I guess not. So much for my plans of goofing off and doing nothing. I’ve also been looking at the iPhone more and more lately. One of my friends just bought one and can’t stop telling me how sweet it is. This can only lead to trouble…..
