August 2005

Hahahah, ok, some old people are cool now

I didn’t think they made bullshit protectors, but apparently they do.

Bullshit Protector on an Army Veteran

You can’t make this kind of stuff up :-)

Reshelving the books

A bunch of folks decided to reshelve some books, specifically George Orwell’s 1984.

Here’s a Flickr photo set, pretty funny stuff.

The rules of the exercise, from BoingBoing.

Also, I have to say, The Daily Show from August 16th was hilarious :-)

If you can’t even remember your own birthday…

Sometimes people forget important dates.

It seems a whole town can as well

http://www.wral.com/apncnews/4850568/detail.html

Honestly though, who can be expected to remember anything after 150 years? :-P

Haha, this is a good analogy

I’ve been playing UT2004 more the last two weeks. Not sure why, just wanted to play a shooter. The maps are a lot better than they were a year ago, and I have to admit it is a shitload of fun. But its not an overflowing sea of players like CounterStrike apparently still is, somehow.

This quote proposes a theory:

FPS players are like battered women who keep crawling back to their abusive boyfriends. When a man comes along, does everything right, and treats her right (Unreal 2004), the woman is grateful at first but eventually dumps him and goes back to their crack snorting ex (counterstrike) for what is seemingly no justifable reason. It’s some twisted form of masochism that is inherent to the human spirit. It compels people to do things that are harmful to themselves. Perhaps it is the excitment of it all, but I just believe that people are dumb.

Maybe that’s why.

Tired of all the crap in your mailbox

I know, it makes you feel special. But bear with me here….we’ve all done this at one point in time. Or maybe I’m special. Whatever. Don’t leave yet.

“You’ve been prequalified for a $50,000 credit limit!”

Wow, that sounds super awesome. I’m so tempted to sign up with your financial institution’s credit card. Wait, whats this, another company wants to offer me the same thing? Amazing. I must be a rock star.

About two days later you realize that every financial damn company on the face of the earth that can offer you a credit card, is trying to offer you a credit card. Its not about the amount of paper thats used to try and appeal to my greedy side. Its not about the endless trips to the mailbox and then ultimately to the shredder and then the trash can. Its about me being tired of reading what an amazing credit rating I have and how this offer is a limited time offer.

Good, still with me? Follow this link and you’ll force an opt out of a bunch of this crap. Spread the word. Less credit, given the current US rate of savings in an average household, is a damn good thing.

Sooner or later it all catches up with you

Robert Novak finally cracks.
During an episode of “Inside Politics” with James Carville and Robert Novak, a comment in regards to the leak investigation is briefly mentioned by Carville. Novak goes nutty and then yells out “This is bullshit”. Neat. Sure, lets keep moving, this is live tv after all. Oh wait, where’s Novak going? He’s walking off the set. Hahahahahaa

Crooks and Liars has the video.
