Neat Tabed Browsing Extension

Found this, Tab Mix 0.1.

It makes Mozilla Firefox’s tabbed browsing even better. Its really similar to the Tabbed Browsing Extension (TBE) that has fallen out of favor lately. Even the developer for TBE says that its buggy. Only thing Tab Mix doesn’t have is the ability to undo a closed tab, which is why I’m trying undoclosetab.

Hopefully this will fix the crashing I’ve been getting occasionally…..

You’re never too rich to look silly

Although Bill Gates wasn’t stupidly rich back when these were taken, he still shouldn’t have posed for these pictures.  They’re just too funny.

The original site is linked here.  In the likely event that this page melts from all the people hitting it, I’ve mirrored the images for posterity here.  Click for larger versions.

Apparently something happened over the weekend…

A great man died.

Granted, I wouldn’t have been able to pull his name out of my head if you had asked me several days ago, but now things are different. Google News and Bloglines keep me posted with whats news around the world. This news story, and its followups, keep coming up as more and more people discover it. Thats good. From Wikipedia’s portrayal, and from Time, it seems that he was a good guy who cared about the people.

Of course, who knows, perhaps there’s a flip side to this guy that isn’t as easily known. Or maybe he was genuinely a good guy who was too far ahread of his time.

Only time will tell.

The more people who remember him and what he did, the better. Officially, China is suppressing all news of his death as much as possible. However, after nearly 15 years of house arrest, after having his title and position stripped, Zhao Ziyang is still, in death, commanding private visits from “high level leaders” in the Chinese government. He may not be trumpeted or widely mourned in China, due to the suppression.

But that doesn’t mean he should be forgotten.

Productivity reduced

Bloglines is awesome. Not only can you read whatever blogs/feeds you want with just a web browser, you can save the neat things for later.

You’ll probably end up seeing more random links from me as a result.

Like the sheet music for Super Mario Brothers.

Back in the US of A

Got back from Canada last Saturday. It was a good time.

The flight there wasn’t too bad, once we finally got going. This was my first time on America West. I got delayed in Austin for a bit, nearly two hours from what I recall. Made it into Vancouver with a sore ass. America West has horrible seats. Spent nearly an hour in a line for immigration, and noticed that nearly everyone my age had an mp3 player of some sort, and most of them were iPods. Now thats market dominance.

Spent a large amount of the time just trying out various restaurants in the Vancouver area. Basically, I had lots of good Chinese food all Xmas ^_^ Thats a good thing considering the food thats available here in Austin. Outside of Mexican food, there really isn’t a whole lot here.

Spent some other time skiing this year. Kevin went ahead and got some equipment this time around. He’s grown to like skiing as much as I like riding =) First day Kevin and I were out, there wasn’t too much snow on the ground yet. Enough to ski/ride on, but not huge amounts. Still we spent some time out there. The second day we went out, there was plenty of snow. Unfortunately, Kevin injured himself early on the day and we had to take him down the mountain. He got himself a nice gash that took 6 stitches to close up.

I went out for another day of riding. It was a good day, after the slopes had gotten a lot of snow. It was great until on one of my after lunch runs I was hit from behind by a Korean chick who apparently had been right behind me, following too close to get out of the way while I carved. She got me right on my left leg, knocking us both to the ground. Ski patrol came by to see how we were doing, she was lying on the snow for a while, apparently she hit pretty hard. I at the time felt pretty ok, so went ahead and rode down after ski patrol came and said she was going to be fine. By the time I got to the bottom though, my left leg felt like I pulled a bunch of muscles at the same time. With that lovely feeling, I tried riding down the greens a few times to loosen up but it didn’t work.

All well, that was a short season in Vancouver. If I have time I’ll see about going again before this season runs out, but I’ll have to see about that.

The leg is still pretty screwed up….went to the ER last night after my leg just completely tensed up and wouldn’t release. Got some painkillers out of them for it, but yea, after feeling better most of the week its gone to shit again.

I’ll post what few pictures I have from this time up in a day or two. Not on a computer with the pictures right now =P

Kevin managed to get me a copy of the Return of the King extended edition for Xmas. Freaked him out when I told him I had already seen it before I got to Vancouver. The Internet is great like that =)

Had training all week for work. In other words, I didn’t have work to do and could just goof off. I gained a new appreciation for Bloglines. It may very well be the perfect RSS aggregator. RSS Bandit used to be my favorite, but it doesn’t have the portability of a web based solution like Bloglines.

Doing law school apps. They suck and are long. And they cost a lot to send in, those bastards. Managed to get a rec from an old prof though, Prof. Piehler rocks =)

On a side note, CrossFire got cancelled yesterday. Apparently CNN agrees with Jon Stewart’s opinion of the show. Oh yeah, the America the Book is absolute comedy. Highly recommended. I’ll have to get a hold of the book and check it out.
