Posting is hard

Nah, not really, I’m just lazy.Been pretty busy with work. Another major version of the website at work went out this weekend. That’ll give me a few weeks of relative calm at least. Doing stuff all the time sucks ass; you should be able to slack off at work some. At least a couple of the major new features are my doing, hehe.Been playing Medieval: Total War a lot lately. Its an old game, but its still an awesome one. The enemy AI is still reasonably good. The gameplay is what matters though, and its still awesome. Rome: Total War should be coming out soon, that one promises to be awesome too. Some of the previews they’ve shown are just amazing. The videos show enemy troops having some concept of physics, flying up into the sky as horses charge through their lines. That’ll be lots of fun.Upgraded my computer’s ram to a full gig. Did a check of my average memory usage one week and noticed i was using 300+ megs of ram constantly anyways. I hit up Fry’s and scored some Mushkin PC2700 for cheap. Now my system runs really really smoothly, and even plays Far Cry. That game was just grindingly slow when I played it with 512mb. UT2004 is also smoother too.Went back to Fry’s this weekend. I’ve been looking at the Linksys WRT54G router for a while now. My old one, the BEFW11S4, had been serving me for a good long time. I bought it back when having wireless was kinda rare, over 3 years ago. Its served me well, but its firmware was sorely out of date. Ended up getting the new router for cheap, no rebates again this time. Wiped out the default firmware and installed one of the open hacked firmwares available out there. Now, thanks to Linksys using a Linnux setup, I’m using a router that has more functionality than most routers <$300 have. Of course it can’t handle the bandwidth of the more expensive ones (ie when 10+ 100mbit ports being lit up), but its still got serious functionaliy. QOS, caching DNS, local DNS, a full DHCP server, working UPnP capabilities, the list goes on. Its an amazing little gadget for only $59 ^_^Michi sent me the Warcraft 3 Battle Chest. Has the main game, plus the expansion. Took that bum long enough to clear up her IOUs =P Its pretty fun, Red Alert 2 was getting a bit old anyways. That and Battle.net is an officially supported online experience, which is a really good thing.Started watching another show, Sealab 2021. Its done in the old 1960s cartoon style, sort like the old Scooby Doo episodes. Its fucking hilarious =)Started watching Last Comic Standing, on regards with newer shows. They’ve weeded out most of the crappy comics, and now have like 10 comics all living in a house. It should be hilarious. Method and Red, along with Fox’s Casino show are pretty good too. It makes the Discovery Channel’s American Casino look really really tame by comparison. For once I’m glad Fox is doing a reality show.Starting to check out Arrested Development as well. I’ve seen two episodes and it seems pretty quality.Been watching a lot of Babylon 5, in sequence. Its amazing how well planned the whole overall story of the show is.Kind of ironic, I like the off season’s shows more than the main tv season’s shows. At least there are new shows this summer.Ordered the new Simpsons Season 4 dvd set, along with a dvd set of Akira Kurosawa’s classics. He’s an awesome director, and its about time I picked up his masterpieces.Got myself a GMail account, thanks Bert. It is pretty cool, but Oddpost is still better for now.Thats about it, maybe I’ll start posting more =P

Now this is comedy

Quoted from somewheres:\”The Republican Party is changing its mascot from the elephant to a condom because it clearly reflects the party’s stance: a condom accepts inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks and gives you a false sense of security when you’re actually getting screwed.\”Quality ^_^

Ramblings from the last few weekends

So haven’t posted in a bit, away I go…So saw Shrek 2 the first week it was out. Work paid for it, so I didn’t mind =P It was ridiculously funny. I’m surprised it was aimed towards children, with so many references to things only late teens to adults would know. Regardless, it was good times.Went back to Charlotte to see Kevin’s graduation from NCSSM. Pictures are available here: http://kyle.rewq.org/gallery/kevinsgraduationLost my luggage on the way, its like clockwork. Its all Chicago’s fault =) Saw Dr. Miller and Dr. Teague while I was there. Not surprised they didn’t remember me since I didn’t cause too much trouble back in those days ;-) Otherwise, was as boring as my graduation. The speaker was pretty lame too. Beats Tom Ridge though (CMU 2002). Graduate boy is currently out in Hong Kong for the summer. Hopefully he won’t use up all my server’s space hosting his pictures. He should throw down for some more space ^_~Played with his Sony Clie TJ37. Its a sweet little PDA. Too bad Sony is pulling out of the PDA market except for Japan. They really do make some pretty sweet hardware.Met up with Brian (http://www.livejournal.com/users/astriarch) for lunch the day before I left. That man got married just a few weekends prior. Its crazy seeing folks I’ve known for a fair part of my life getting married. Makes me feel old almost.Came back to Austin through Denver. Had a well delayed flight so my luggage had plenty of time to make sure it made it on-board. Typically busy week at work. Got sick with a pretty serious cold on Thursday so took the day off. Still coughing my way through the tail end of the bug. At least Nyquil is lots of fun, hahaha.Finished reading the LOTR trilogy finally. Considering how off movies typically are, the movie edition stayed relatively true. Regardless, I’d recommend any fans of the movies should check out the book edition as well. As in virtually all cases, the book is better than the Hollywood interpretation.Updated to KDE 3.2 on my laptop. Its assloads faster than 3.1 was, nearly as fast as Xfce, which is no small feat. I’m seriously impressed. No loss in functionality either, just fixed code it seems.Got UT2004 finally. Its lots of fun =) Much nicer than the demo version too. If more games were like this, my library might be larger….Started replaying Medieval Total War again. Now that is an awesome strategy game. Nothing beats that squish when your calvary runs through some foot soldiers.
