I”m so lazy

It seems its jumping into a two week rotation now for the blog updates. Thats pretty pathetic, I’ll have to do better.Nothing too interesting happened in the last two weeks honestly. Previous week, week of April 1st was an ok one, nothing really of note. The following week some issues at work clocked me in at over 60 hours. Just hours and hours of fun. The worst part was all that extra (unpaid) overtime could have been avoided if there had been some simple duty unit testing going on. Granted, its definitely the responsibility of the developer to come up with testing scenarios as well, but when an \”eager beaver\” comes up and starts spouting buzzwords, folks think he’s got a clue and give him the task. When he drops the ball, and other folks’ asses (like mine) end up on the line, enough is enough. Its no wonder off-shore employees are so attractive to hiring managers. Why hire incompetence at US prices when you can hire 10 folks, most of which will be incompetent. Chances are, you’ll get the ones with a clue for cheaper, and the company wins.Yes, I’m on the side that says \”fuck it, outsource away\”. Free market economics, once freed of transaction costs, do not care about borders. Efficiencies bring business. Bitching about off-shore outsourcing is retarded. Its these same market forces that give people their $50 DVD players, their $149 XBox’s, and various other gizmos. Not to mention those shiny new SUVs everyone drives all over the highway on (yes, components made in Mexico). Now, with that out of my system, last week was pretty easy in comparison. Had some training for some theoretical stuff that supposedly all programmers should know. The famed UML was introduced to me, and all I can say is that its just thinking with your head out of your ass. Not too bad, but its nice that there’s a formal way of doing that ;)Helped a friend move into a new apartment today. 32\” Sony WEGA tvs are a bitch to carry up to a third floor apartment.Got a suggestion that I should be a \”greeter\” for Burning Man this year. Still pondering about that one…..although it could be fun I guess =P
