Damn I’ve been busy lately. Its just ridiculous. Last Friday the next version of Dell.com was deployed, which kept me up late into the next morning and made me miss a few shows I was planning to see. Wtf, damn work got in the way again =P Had to stay late last night as well, once again into the morning, due to another issue on the site that I won’t disclose publicly yet. Suffice it to say I’ve been on too many core framework teams, and that causes me to get dragged in when some of these applications consuming the frameworks get in trouble. Wheeee….Fortunately the preceeding Wednesday I went out to see Chris Fortier. He was disappointing at best. They compare him to John Digweed sometimes, who I’ve also seen live. And he doesn’t compare. I give him a severe \”eh\”. At least it was fun being in a club with decent intelligent lights again. A little flashlight and a laser do NOT count, you need the full on setup with projectors and that whole bit.SXSW was eh once again. Its the whole leaving the mainstream and listening almost exclusively to electronic music thing biting me in the ass again. Austin is not a good place for that kind of music at all. Live music capital of the world my ass. Name me a town where local performers can’t play at a bar/restaurant and not get heckled/cheered. The number of bands may be disproportionate to the population size here, but that by no means justifies this city’s self annointed title.Spent a good bit of the weekend watching more basketball. It’ll get good this weekend, with some serious matchups. Can’t believe Kentucky got beat though, thats just crap. And during the UNC vs Texas game, well, lets just say I wasn’t watching that at a local bar
Disturbingly enough, a few folks and I decided to go and see what a rodeo really is. It was at some local fairground nearby. Eh, its like a state fair but with more animals that reek. Kinda boring, nothing really entertaining watching some dude climb up on top of a seriously pissed off animal and hang on. That and the people at the show seriously weirded me out. It was a sea of cowboy hats, then me and my friends who stuck out like a sore thumb. I suppose I needed boots and a hat to fit in or something. Yeah, that only provided mediocre entertainment, but what else are you going to do on a Sunday? At least its one more thing I can say I’ve done, and one more thing that I’ll never do again =P Time would have been better spent staring at paint drying.Burning Man is coming. I think I’m going as a fox =)
Anyone here?
