Weathermen are quacks

If I had listened to the weathermen this weekend, I would have bought a boat. According to them, this weekend was supposed to be full of rain for Austin, to the point of flash floods. Well, I stuck my head out each day all weekend, and only got a few drops of rain. Gooooo weathermen =)Friday, I didn’t do much after work. Got off a bit late, had some dinner, then went over to hang out with some friends. Nothing too special at all. Saturday, went to a comedy club to see Marc Maron (http://www.capcitycomedy.com/comedians/mark_maron.html). He was pretty damn funny. Some of the warmup acts were pretty good too. Nothing as bad as that shitty comic I saw in Pittsburhg last year at Carnival. That dude sucked horribly.Found out Date Attel is coming to Austin on March 8-9. Awesomeness, he’s funny as hell. Finally beat Knights of the Old Republic. The ending is kind of a let down, but its still a really fun game. So much fun, I\”m considering replaying it, just to see what happens. Yeah, thats the sign of an addictive game. When it takes 30 hours to beat, and you want to play it again. Or it could be a sign that I need to get out more =P Who knows, hehe.Found a cool distributor that still had my favorite earbuds. Ordered two of them; one to use, and another as a spare. My current ones have a weird left bud now, it doesn’t handle drum and bass very well anymore at all. Sad too, they’re been with me for 2+ years now, with about a year of that being used at work. Thats some serious hours. The Simpsons episode tonight was fucking hilarious. Its good when shows don’t get bumped for football or what not. Or big movies that are being played in order to counter another network’s football coverage. Yup, next weekend will suck with no Simpsons. Those bastards =P

Still here…

Haven’t posted in a bit, nothing really going on lately….Weekdays were full of work as usual, not too much fun there. Last weekend involved going downtown with a friend for his birthday. Even that was sort of boring though……it was a Friday night, and we ended up hanging out at a bar I’m not too particularly fond of. But eh, birthday people get that veto power thing for the night. Ended up getting home a bit late, but wasn’t a big deal. Spent the rest of the weekend playing some KOTOR….This weekend, spent Friday night just hanging out and relaxing. Went to a friends to play some nickel and dime poker, but nothing too special. Saturday morning, tried to watch the Duke vs Wake Forest game. Unfortunately, Texas sucks and the network affiliate override the broadcast game and showed a not nearly as interesting game in my eyes. All well, at least Duke won =) Saturday night, went to a friends house party. They threw down for a full bar, so there was a ridiculous amount of booze for a ridiculous amount of people. Ended up playing poker most of the night (higher stakes than nickel and dime), and came out seriously on top ;-) Yesterday, spent a good portion of the day cleaning up my apartment. Nothing too bad, but eh, it still needed to be done. Waited around until Simpsons time and realized……well shit, there’s football on tonight, I guess thats more important. Ended up watching the second half of the Panthers/Eagles game…..and was pretty amused when the underdog took the game. People have been saying the Panthers have the Cinderella team momentum right now. Guess we’ll be sure in two weeks time….Now its MLK day. I wonder if they’ll make me show up at some mandatory event at work so we’re all respecting diversity or something. Yeah, I can do that when I don’t have a buttload of work =P All you slackers who have the day off suck.

And oh yeah

I know the webcam and the weather thing are all acting goofy.A new server at the host, with a fancier firewall, tends to do that. I’ll figure out something when I get a chance so they don’t suck anymore =P

Canadians are wacky

No, they’re really not, but its fun to pick on them =)Canada was pretty nice. Spent most of the time eating and snowboarding, which isn’t a bad combination honestly. Went up there on the 20th, and after a few delays, managed to get there only an hour or so behind schedule. But honestly, that ain’t too bad considering that I had two layovers on the leg to Vancouver. Its ironic, but before 9/11, the airlines would have probably been even slower to get me to my destination, and have a higher chance of screwing up my bags. But now, after virtually all the major carriers have been tossed around a bit financially, they seem to be doing things a lot better. Market based shakedowns are great. But anyways, yeah, mostly ate lots of Chinese food the entire time, probably way too much. What can I say….Austin has no selection of good Chinese food to speak of. Nothing. Squat. Houston does have a better selection, but thats 3 hours away. Besides, gotta stuff my face sometime, hahahaa ;)Went snowboarding at Cypress Mountain while we were in Vancouver. Madass convenient, maybe 30-45 minute drive to the top of the mountain from downtown Vancouver. They even have a shuttle service so that when the mountain is covered in snow, you don’t have to try and get stranded on the road up the mountain if you don’t have snowtires or chains. That didn’t stop lots of people from trying though….I bet those tow truck guys just raked it in ;)Ended up buying a snowboard in Canada as well. Its a pretty nice setup for the money, so I’m happy with it. Its fucking fast too ^_^Visited my recently deceased grandfather’s resting place as well. Man, its fucking ridiculous how much places charge to give you a spot. You basically gotta leave a couple grand lying around to cover things. Thats just nuts.On the return trip on the 31st, it wasn’t too bad. Only one layover in DFW that time, and I barely made the flight thanks to snow in Vancouver. Apparently, this year they had their first major snowfall in the actual city in quite some time. It was pretty neat I thought, reminded me of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh had icier snow though, not nearly as good for snowballs ;-) Shockingly, somehow my bags made it to Austin, even though I literally had 5 minutes between my arrival in DFW and the departure of my flight. Running through concourses is fun and all that.Made it in for the New Year with about half an hour to 45 minutes to spare. Decided going downtown would suck (drove by downtown in the shuttle back to my place, it was crazy packed) so stayed at my place and unpacked. Broke open some scotch for the New Years, but nothing special.Resolutions? Um, I’ll give you an IOU ;)And a preview if you get bored….http://gallery.rewq.org/Its not how I want it exactly yet (have to tweak the look of it) but this one is a pretty spiffy gallery system that I decided to download and play around with. Its not something I wrote, but it does have a lot of developers on it, and has some nice ass features I wouldn’t be able to do reasonably. Yes, I’ve given up on my photo gallery and just submitted. If you’re interested, its running Gallery (http://gallery.sf.net).Bah, off to work…
