So this is what happened to productivity…

Played Max Payne 2 all weekend and beat it pretty early on Saturday. Did I mention its an awesome game? =) Replaying it now, on a higher difficulty, to unlock the rest of the story. I hear they’re making a movie based on the game. Its not hard to see why; the entire plot and character development aspect has already been done. All the director has to do is cast some folks and make them read lines. No creativity needed, just add actors.Besides that, spent the weekend watching some more Kenshin and South Park. Yeah, its a weird contrast: anime about some swordsman who’s found a higher calling, and four Colorado kids who curse a lot. Sweeet =) The latest South Park was hilarious too. Its good that there are a few things on TV that don’t completely and utterly suck still. Too bad you need a Tivo or something similar to be able to enjoy it. Otherwise, you’ll be flipping through channels wondering what to watch, or scheduling your life around TV. Both options blow.Yeah, pretty humdrum. Thats ok, there’s a party this Friday (Halloween) that’ll make up for the boredom. Same thing the next weekend. Finally, decent DJs showing up in Austin, even if its only for two weekends. Hopefully the cops won’t show up and ruin the fun.

The boredom is strong lately

Didn’t do shit this weekend at all. No, literally, I really didn’t =) Watched Kill Bill and T3 during the course of the weekend. T3 sucked hard. Kinda ruined the whole storyline; no wonder James Cameron decided not to work on it. Kill Bill Volume 1 is pretty cool. It totally is like a live-action anime. Good stuff if you’re looking for a decent action flick.Cleaned up my place some, paid some bills before they were past due. You know, the usual. Been playing Max Payne 2 since Monday. That game more than justifies my investing in a good computer video card over a console system. Its ridiculous how good games look nowadays. It even has a realistic physics engine, so when you knock over stuff/blow up stuff, they react in a realistic way, as if they had weight and everything. Very good stuff.Got the official final signoff from the doctor regarding my leg. Its definitely nowhere near where it was at the beginning of the summer, strength wise. I’ll definitely have to work on it in order to get it up to par so I can snowboard and not get exhausted halfway down the mountain. I’ve got two months though, should be more than enough time for me to get enough of the strength back so it won’t be a problem.Weather is starting to cool down now, at least at night. Still pretty hot during the day, although no more triple digits. Finally, I won’t be sweating like a pig on the walk from the building to the car, which, before you get any ideas, isn’t all that close to the building. Typically have to cross a pretty busy street and go into an overflow parking lot in order to get to the car. I guess when you’re older you wake up earlier and therefore end up going to work earlier. Or maybe people just hate their spouses.

Wow, so this is what a relaxing weekend is…

So, finally, the new Dell.com has been launched, and that huge ass project is done and off of my back. Put in over 70 hours worth of work, conference calls, and lots of other fun during that last week. The whole month I put in at least 50-60 hours a week, but now its all over. Around 3am CST Friday night, the whole world was finally on the new framework.Want to see the Easter Egg? Haha, like hell I’m linking to it from here. Google looks here too you know, haha =PSlept most of Saturday, since I didn’t get home until 4am Friday night. When I finally woke up, wandered around, scrounged up some food, then went to Mr Sinus Theater downtown for some laughs. The show is sold out most of the time. Fortunately, this time, most of Austin was in Dallas watching UT Austin lose a football game. The show was pretty funny, not as good as Mystery Science Theater 3000, but hey, pretty darn good for live standup.Sunday, ran some errands, then picked up some sushi. Didn’t really do much else, doing absolutely jack shit is a great thing.Starting to watch old South Park shows as they come in, they’re still pretty funny. Reno 911 is fucking hilarious though; its a new show on Comedy Central thats already gone through one season. Its shows like that which make tv worthwhile.Playing Halo on the PC a good bit lately. Its an ok game, but its totally worth it for the pure eye candy. So thats what happens when a game uses a 9700 Pro to at least some of its potential.

It’ll be over in about 72 hours

So finally, the project will go live in about 72 hours. Very few things can stop the project now, even QA is unlikely to stop us, since the press is eagerly awaiting the new website.I’ve been staying late at work the last month to try and get this shit finished, and to account for asshats always demanding new functionality. Stayed until 3:30am last night working with Japan to try and accomodate their legal requirements. Such is the fun when I am working on the piece of the project that I am.Didn’t do shit all weekend. Screw it, bumming around is a good thing. Started playing Halo on the PC some lately. Its just like the X-Box one, so its really not all that special. Its a tolerable shooter though, so its keeping me entertained for the moment. Medal of Honor is keeping me busy too, but its good to have a both extremes: historically accurate, and ass unlikely in the near future.I think I fried my keyboard on my desktop today. At least it knows what good wine is and got trashed off of that, hahahaa. Hopefully it’ll be happier in a few hours after drying off some. Otherwise, its back to Fry’s I go.It looks like Arnold won the California recall election. Demolition Man (the movie) predicted this. Thats just disturbing on so many levels I won’t even start.Coffee is your friend, treat it right.

9 days until the world changes…

Yes, only 9 days left until the world changes….you’ll see whats new then. No, its not this website, just the website of my employer. It’ll be neat. If you like that reload button, you might see a sneak (very sneak) peak of it on the homepage, but its kind of hard to tell whats going on from that picture =)Busy as hell the last week and this week too. Scrambling to finish things before the code freeze, which was today, along with getting the other applications onboard with the new architecture. That and the general answering questions for the new system, oh lots of fun. Earliest I’ve come home in the last three weeks is probably 6pm. Latest was around 8:30pm. Its times like this I wish I got overtime.Didn’t do a whole lot this weekend. Went to Houston for the day on Saturday. Its good to give the car some time to stretch and go nice and fast for long periods of time. Makes me want to invest in a radar detector though. Eh, I’ll cross that bridge when I decide I’ll be making more longer distance trips in my car. Austin is a piss small city, and driving from one end to the other does not count as driving a long distance. Didn’t do too much on Sunday but relax and catch up on some errands.Besides that, haven’t been up to much. Played some C&C Generals Zero Hour lately. Its definitely better than the original visually, thanks to a few new units. Its also definitely trickier than the first, but its still a fun game.I’ve started up heavily back in the gym once again, now that my leg is healed enough that I think I can start moving it around a good bit. I won’t be able to do any leg specific workouts for a long time, but at least I can do other workouts for my upper body that require my legs to be at least somewhat stable so I don’t fall on my ass and look like a retard.Haven’t really worked on anything for the webpage. Coding all day at work, along with having to deal with supporting other groups, and various other fun activities have left me with no motivation to work on my webpage at all lately. That, and the annoying aspects of PHP are starting to get to me. The whole idea of not having a proper object model is somewhat annoying. True, its not an issue when you do some workarounds here, and workarounds there, but seriously, you shouldn’t have to in order to emulate some basic tenants of OOP such as function overloading, private/public methods, etc etc.Having a cat would be cool. The not cool part comes in when he thinks my speakers are just huge scratching posts….
