Its too early to be up…
Bleh, I hate Monday mornings. They’re usually just me sitting here and chugging as much coffee as possible so I have a chance of being useful before 9am. Bah.Went out with some friends at work Friday night and hung out at a weird bar off to the side of 6th street. It had good whiskey though, so that made up for it. The weather was decent enough to let us sit outside too. Any more of the summer heat would have just annoyed the hell out of me. Recently, in the last few weeks, the temperature has been in the mid to high 80s as a high, which isn’t too horrible I suppose. The good part is at nights it approaches 70 now, so I just open up my screen door to cool off the place =PSaturday, an old CMU friend who just recently moved back to Houston due to the crap job market came by for a visit. Didn’t really do much….went and got lunch, went off to go watch the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen at the dollar theater. It was actually better than I expected, which wasn’t saying a lot, but it was at least mildly entertaining. Went off and mooched from another friend’s cable tv and just hung out the rest of the night. Yesterday, woke up late, bummed around all day, and eventually went out to get some groceries. Came back, and made the frozen lasagna I had bought and tried to watch some of the Emmy’s. That lasted about 2 minutes. Wasn’t even very funny of an awards show….bah.Soon, the week will start again. Bah, we need more vacation days.18 days until this big ugly project launches.

Whoa, it cooled down some
This weekend was almost tolerable temperature wise. I’m shocked. The rain we got helped I’m sure. Its nice to be able to open a window and not use the a/c for once.Didn’t do jack shit this weekend. Friday, just hung out and watched some more Kenshin. Thought about going to see \”Once Upon a Time in Mexico\”, but laziness got the better of me, and I was kinda in the middle of a really good part of Kenshin, so I passed. Yesterday, went to get some Indian food. Gourged and filled myself as always, then went to Sam’s club to get some reloads of some basics. Got home, watched some more Kenshin, played some games, found out SNL was a shitty rerun, and went to bed.Today, stuck my head out long enough to go get some groceries. Spent the afternoon watching the Family Guy Volume 2 DVDs, along with the new Futurama and Simpsons DVDs. They need to hurry up with the Simpsons DVD releases. I’ve already gotten two seasons of Futurama and the whole Family Guy series, but I only have the first three Simpsons. Argh!Watched Conan’s 10th anniversary show. It rocked. Hilarity abounded. Good good shit.Made some curry tonight, damn good. I’m on a curry kick or something.Got a new scanner and dvd drive for my main computer. Fry’s rocks, got both for $73 after tax. A cheap BTC DVD drive, and a cheap Canon scanner. Good enough, they do the job and are cheap replacements for broke stuff I have. Might just use Gallery (http://gallery.sf.net) instead of writing my own picture album system, which is dragging on and inspires me less and less. That and matching the functionality of something like that would be hard. But then, you could ask why I wrote my weblog too. Hehe, who knows, maybe I’ll be inspired at some point….Got kernel 2.6.0-test5 running on my Thinkpad. Its a shitload more responsive now. Makes me wonder how much faster it can get….Try Mozilla Firebird if you haven’t already. Its the goodness of Mozilla (pop-up blocking, tabbed browsing, fast) in a smaller and even faster package. Here’s the version I’m using now.. http://downloads.rewq.org/Firebird/MozillaFirebird-20030914.zipTrillian 2 got released in the last few days and it seems to be just a bunch of bugfixes. What a jip. Using GAIM (http://gaim.sf.net) more now, maybe I should convert over and use that instead….

So what did that quack…err…doctor say?
Apparently I’m pretty much healed now…finally….Bone is growing back together well, at 80% or higher recovery now from the look of the X-rays. He probably made that number up, since he only took two X-rays, and only one showed the fracture to any extent….but anyways…Laptop came back today. I’ve said it before, but damn I love IBM. Not only did they fix the problem, they replaced all the exterior panels on my laptop, and fixed up my keyboard while they were at it. These were all just wear and tear issues, and they fixed it all up. Thats service =)If you haven’t clicked the link a few entries below, click it damn it! Stewie is funny!! =P

What am I, cursed?
So this weekend was going to be pretty boring. Didn’t do a whole lot Friday night, just went over to a friend’s to watch Suicide Kings. Wasn’t too bad of a movie, but not too impressive at the same time. Saturday, didn’t do squat during the day. Went with a friend to see the Miami vs University of Florida game. That was eh as well. I just can’t get into football…So when I got home last night, I noticed my system was crashing….a lot. It literally never does that. I go \”ok, maybe its some software that got autoupdated while I was out\”. Nope. By the next morning, I had figured out it was hardware failure. My main drive was dying. Good thing there’s such a thing as cheap hard drives now. I managed to score a 120gb Western Digital Special Edition drive, so my desktop is a lot faster now =) Those 8meg cache drives really give your system a kick in the ass Now, I have to RMA that stupid drive so I can get it fixed….IBM rocks, my laptop will be here tomorrow. Talk about fast. I sent it out Thursday =)

Good news/Bad news
Good news:My leg is pretty much healed. Got discharged from physical therapy today, seeing the doctor on Monday. Therapist says that although it will be a little tender for a while, it should recover to full strength in a month or so. Plenty of time between now and Christmas, when I’ll be in Vancouver again and probably snowboarding ^_^Bad news:My poor Thinkpad is messed up =( Sent it back to the elves at IBM to get it fixed. Hopefully they can do their thing and get it back to me good as new. Otherwise, well…..might have to get another one. I have to say, even though I’m not in school right now, having a laptop is incredibly useful still. Getting a Thinkpad as my first one may have been a bad idea though…..I really don’t want any other laptop (besides possibly an Apple…)And yes, I know I like a competing company’s laptop. Just because I work for Dell doesn’t mean I have stop thinking for myself and stop buying what I like. It sure as hell wasn’t in anything I signed =)
