Unproductivity at its best…
So this week was more entertaining than most. An old CMU friend (Matt) showed up Wednesday night and stayed until today. It was good to see old friends again. We didn’t do a whole lot, mostly just wandered around the town hanging out with various mutual friends in the area. Finally watched Pirates of the Caribbean, which honestly wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. During the weekend, I managed to score a free couch, so my apartment doesn’t look as bare anymore =P That forced me to stack up my textbooks in the corner of the apartment, but at least now there’s something besides the floor to sit on in front of my speakers. That and hell, its just another place for me to sit and do nothing at.The couch actually came from another CMU friend who had to leave town since he just finished law school. Unfortunately, the shitty job market gave him no opportunities in Austin, so he’s heading back to Houston, hopefully finding a job or something there. Man, every CMU kid is running out of here, maybe I should too ;-)Besides that, nothing really interesting happened. Spent most of today cleaning up my place and rearranging some things. Its a little easier now that the leg feels a good bit better. Its hardly ever sore now, and I can walk around half decently without the brace on for a short while. Longer walks I still wear the brace just in case, but my left leg is getting stronger and it should be feel near 100% soon, even if the x-rays say that its not yet. Since July 4th, there has been some decent bone growth in my leg, so hopefully withini another month it’ll be completely healed.Worked with some stuff for my webpage today. Ran into a shitload of limitations imposed by the language I’m working with, PHP. After a year of using ASP.NET and C#, I do have to admit it is a far nicer web programming language to work with than anything else I’ve worked with (PHP, ColdFusion, classic ASP). Of course, a big part of it might be that all the previous ones I’ve worked with are merely scripting languages, whereas ASP.NET is a full fledged programming language, more akin to Java than any of the scripting languages. Maybe its just me, but being able to overload methods in a class is a good thing.
