Risks of running Sid
Sid is the name of the release of Debian GNU/Linux(http://www.debian.org) that I run on all my Linux systems. It has amazing package management and is very robust, usually. However, Sid is the unstalbe version of Debian, where the newest and greatest software is introduced into the distribution. Of course, this causes problems at times, such as this morning. Due to the uploading of Perl 5.8.0 into the Sid distribution, lots of other packages that were dependent on Perl 5.6.1 would not work, and would have to be uninstalled from the computer. Since it was early still, I didn’t notice this at all, until some of my software wasn’t working. At least its back online now. I managed to use this as an excuse to go onto IRC for a bit. I miss the good old IRC days in high school and college. Maybe its time to take a look at it again.In other news, the deposits for my stereo have been paid. I’ll have the fun new gear next weekend, just in time for Labor Day Weekend.Tomorrow promises to be interesting; supposedly, I’ll finally have real work to occupy my time. I’ll believe it when I see it.

What I don’t follow is how having the logging companies coming in and knocking down trees will affect the deadwood and underbrush. I mean honestly, how? Currently, there already exists programs that help remove these risk factors in national forests. Seriously, what justfies such a change in policy?Oh, and by the way, increased logging in national forests was a part of Bush/Cheney’s wonderful Energy Policy that was released almost a year ago. You know, the one that had lots of nice closed door meetings with various interests, including the logging industry.

So yeah, Michi is here =)We went out to the supermarkets and got lots of food, it’ll be good eating for a while ^_^We were going to go to Electric Daisy Carnival (http://www.electricdaisycarnival.com), but the fucking party got shut down due to some insurance bs. I’m so pissed its not even funny. I was so looking forward to it. Michi was too, but she took it well.We ended up going to 6th Street with the regular gang. At least they all got to meet Michi. But it just wasn’t a party like we were planning for the night.All well, cops will be cops.

So this is how it is…
Finally got some actual work today. Well, I wouldn’t call it ACTUAL work. More like work thats gotten pushed to the side and requires a good bit of time to tracking down some busy people. All well, its something.Guess this means I won’t be reading as many forums at work anymore, hehe. Thats a good thing; that broken proxy keeps annoying the hell out of me. Microsoft Proxy Server sucks for a reason…Michi’s coming in this weekend, we’re going to hit Electric Daisy Carnival, maybe do some tourisy things around here. At very least, it’ll be a fun weekend.
